De l'un en l'autre

Inglese
This is the general way in which the French express counterchanging. Grand-maison instances it in the arms of Buillond. The term de l'un à l'autre would appear to mean that this alternation is carried on, not merely in a divided shield, but where there is an ordinary, or several together (such as a fesse or bende), upon it. This would form a kind of compound counterchange, but is very unusual in English heraldry
